    India has been battling cancer for years. And with time, these cases of cancer have increased in number. This splurge in cancer cases has become a significant cause of concern among the Indian population.

     

    Studies are being carried out to establish this spike in cancer cases and assess the total number of cancer cases, deaths due to cancer, the most common type of cancer, and the type of cancers that affect men, women, and children.

     

    Based on reports and data of cancer statistics 2021, here’s an insight on all you need to know about cancer statistics and data.


    What Does The Cancer Statistics 2021 And Data State?


     The report released by the Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR) called the “Clinicopathological Profile of Cancers in India: A Report of Hospital Based Cancer Registries, 2021” reported the following data: 

     

    • Under the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP), a total number of 6.10 lakh cancers were reported between the years 2012 to 2019.
    • According to the report, the total number of new cancer cases in India was estimated to be 1.9 million in 2020.


    The Most Affected -


    According to the report, men were the most affected with a percentage of (52.4), followed by women with a percentage of (47.6).

     

    A percentage of 4.0  of all the cancers were seen in the case of children aged between 0-14 years and 5.5 percentage in case of children aged between 0-19 years.
