BD-LETRO 2.5MG TABLET

Introduction:

BD-Letro 2.5mg Tablet consists of the active ingredient Letrozole. It is indicated as first-line therapy for women with early and advanced breast cancer whose tumors are hormone receptor-positive. This medicine can be used before surgery to shrink the tumor or after surgery to prevent cancer recurrence.

Inform your physician if you have not attained menopause yet, as this medicine does not work for premenopausal women. This medicine could also disrupt bone mineral density and increases cholesterol levels. Hence, your physician must monitor your bone functions and cholesterol levels at regular intervals.

Uses of BD-Letro 2.5mg Tablet:

• Adjunct to standard treatment for postmenopausal women with early breast cancer.
• Treatment of hormone receptor-positive or unknown advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

How BD-Letro 2.5mg Tablet works:

BD-Letro 2.5mg Tablet is a nonsteroidal compound that inhibits estrogen production by blocking the enzyme aromatase in all tissues to the extent where there is total estrogen deprivation. In the premenopausal stage, this medicine does not stop estrogen production, which is why it is not recommended for premenopausal women unless ovaries are removed or gonadotropin secretion is suppressed.

This medicine works by delaying the progression of the disease, avoiding the recurrence of early-stage breast cancer and improving the survival rate.

Interaction with other drugs:

Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

How to use BD-Letro 2.5mg Tablet:

This medicine can be consumed with or without food and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

Safety Advice:

Pregnancy:

You should take this medicine only if you have gone through menopause. However, if you still have reproductive potential, your physician might suggest you use an effective contraception method during this treatment.

Breastfeeding: 

You should take this medicine only if you have gone through menopause. Consult your physician for advice if you are breastfeeding.

Liver:

Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have severe liver disease. 

Kidney:

Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have severe kidney disease. 

Driving: 

This medicine could cause tiredness. Exercise caution while driving and operating machinery.

Others:

• Ensure that your physician monitors your bone mineral density and cholesterol levels.
• Inform your physician if you have not attained menopause yet, as this medicine does not work for premenopausal women.
• Inform your physician if you experience allergic reactions to Letrozole or its ingredients.
• Inform your physician if you have osteoporosis or bone fractures.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

• Severe chest pain or tightness spreading to arms, jaw or neck
• Coughing blood
