Biovorin 50mg Injection contains the active constituent leucovorin calcium. It is used to reduce the side effects of a group of medicines called folic acid antagonists such as methotrexate (anticancer medicine), trimetrexate (antibiotic and anticancer medicine), trimethoprim (antibiotic) and pyrimethamine (antimalarial medication). It is used to treat megaloblastic anemias caused by folic acid deficiency.
Biovorin 50mg Injection is also used to increase the effectiveness of fluorouracil (anticancer medicine). It is not recommended for patients with anemia caused by too little vitamin B12. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have had radiotherapy or stomach problems before taking this medicine. Large quantities of Leucovorin may diminish the chemotherapeutic effect of folic acid antagonists.
Make sure you inform your physician of all the medicines, including supplements and herbal medicines, you are taking before you start treatment with Biovorin 50mg Injection. Nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting are very common side effects of this medicine.
Uses of Biovorin 50mg Injection:
- An antidote to the overdose of folic acid antagonists
- Megaloblastic anemia
- Palliative treatment in combination with 5-fluorouracil for advanced colorectal cancer
How Biovorin 50mg Injection works:
It is an essential coenzyme for nucleic acid synthesis, selectively protect cells from adverse effects of folic acid antagonists and increase the efficacy of fluorouracil.

- Inform your doctor if you have stomach problems, have had radiotherapy, allergic conditions or other diseases.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medical treatment. Although all medicines can cause side effects, everyone will not get them.
Serious:
- Fainting
