Cloral Lozenges contains an active component such as Clotrimazole. This medication is an antifungal medication used to treat a variety of fungal infections. It is highly effective in treating various fungal infections, including vaginal yeast infections, athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch. It targets the underlying cause of the infection and helps to alleviate symptoms such as itching, redness, and inflammation. This medication is generally well-tolerated by most people when used as directed. Serious side effects are rare, and it is considered safe for adults and children when used appropriately. In some cases, Cloral Lozenges can be used preventively to reduce the risk of recurring fungal infections, especially in susceptible individuals or those with frequent infections. Cloral Lozenges can be combined with other medications to enhance the effectiveness of treatment for certain fungal infections.

Cloral Lozenges's mechanism of action is based on its ability to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. Ergosterol maintains the integrity and fluidity of the fungal cell membrane. This medication targets an enzyme called 14-alpha demethylase, essential for converting lanosterol to ergosterol in the fungal cells. By inhibiting this enzyme, this medication disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, accumulating toxic sterol intermediates and causing structural damage to the fungal cell membrane. 

As a result, the cell becomes more permeable, allowing essential cellular components to leak out and leading to the death of the fungal organism. Since human cells do not produce ergosterol and have different enzymes for cholesterol synthesis, it exhibits selective toxicity, effectively targeting fungal pathogens while sparing human cells.

Interaction of Cloral Lozenges with other drugs

Inform the doctor about your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Cloral Lozenges, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
