FOEPHOS 8GM SACHET

Introduction:

Foephos 8gm Powder consists of Fosfomycin Trometamol, which is indicated for the prevention and treatment of bladder infections. It is prescribed to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women that are caused due to strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis. It is not indicated for pyelonephritis or perinephric abscess. 

Foephos 8gm Powder is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Sensitivity tests should be performed before starting this treatment to rule out false-positive indications of resistance.

Uses of Foephos 8gm Powder:

• To treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI) in women

How Foephos 8gm Powder works:

Fosfomycin inhibits enzymes released by the bacterial cell wall called enolpyruvyl transferase thereby irreversibly blocking steps crucial for cell wall synthesis. This prevents the cell wall synthesis at a very early stage and ultimately results in the death of infection-causing bacteria.

Interaction with other drugs:

Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

How to use Foephos 8gm Powder:

Transfer the contents of the packet into a glass of water and stir well. Do not use hot water. Drink immediately after mixing in water.

Safety Advice:

Pregnancy:

Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. 

Breastfeeding: 

Consult your physician for advice before taking this medicine if you are breastfeeding.

Liver:

Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have liver diseases. Your physician will monitor your liver functions regularly.

Kidney:

Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have kidney diseases. This medicine is not safe for patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Driving: 

You may experience side effects such as dizziness or fatigue, affecting your ability to drive or use machines. Do not drive or use devices in such cases.

Allergies: 

Inform your physician if you experience allergic reactions to Fosfomycin or its ingredients.

Others:

• Inform your physician if you have earlier experienced diarrhea after taking antibiotics.
• Ensure that your physician examines your urine culture specimens before and after this treatment.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Serious:

• Anaphylactic shock
• Severe allergic reactions
• Fast heartbeat
• Abdominal cramps, bloody stools, fever
• Diarrhea

Common:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Indigestion
• Infection in female genital organs
