FOSIROL POWDER
FOSFOMYCIN
Manufacturer : CIPLA LTDOrigin of Medicine : IndiaIntroduction:
Fosirol Powder consists of Fosfomycin Trometamol, which is indicated for the prevention and treatment of bladder infections. It is prescribed to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women that are caused due to strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis. It is not indicated for pyelonephritis or perinephric abscess.
Fosirol Powder is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Sensitivity tests should be performed before starting this treatment to rule out false-positive indications of resistance.
Uses of Fosirol Powder:
- To treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI) in women
How Fosirol Powder works:
Fosfomycin inhibits enzymes released by the bacterial cell wall called enolpyruvyl transferase thereby irreversibly blocking steps crucial for cell wall synthesis. This prevents the cell wall synthesis at a very early stage and ultimately results in the death of infection-causing bacteria.
