Gefticip 250mg Tablet is a targeted therapy containing the active constituent gefitinib. It is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is used in patients where the NSCLC cancer has spread to other parts of the body, who have certain types of abnormal epidermal growth factor (EGFR) genes, and patients who had no previous cancer treatment. Non-small cell lung cancer is a disorder in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner in the tissues of the lung.
Gefticip 250mg Tablet is not recommended for adolescents and children under 18 years of age. Talk to your doctor if you have any other lung problems, liver disorders, or eye problems before taking this medicine. Use effective birth control during the treatment and for at least 2 weeks after the last dose. Talk to your doctor if you are taking medicines for ulcers or blood clots or if you have an intolerance to sugars.

How Gefticip 250mg Tablet works:
Gefticip 250mg Tablet works by blocking a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). EGFR is involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells.

How to use Gefticip 250mg Tablet:
Always take Gefticip 250mg Tablet exactly as your doctor has told you. You can take the tablet with or without food. If you find trouble in swallowing the tablet, dissolve it in half a glass of water. Swirl the water until the tablet gets dissolved, which may take up to 20 minutes. Drink the liquid straight away. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Try to take this medicine at about the same time each day.

Pregnancy:
Gefticip 250mg Tablet can harm your unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking this medicine.
Breastfeeding:
Do not take Gefticip 250mg Tablet if you are breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.
Liver:
You need to tell your doctor if you have any liver disorders before taking Gefticip 250mg Tablet.
Driving:
You may feel weak while being treated with Gefticip 250mg Tablet. Avoid driving if you are unwell.
Others:
- Inform your physician if you have any eye problems or an intolerance to some sugars.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Serious:
- Severe allergic reactions (swelling of lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, swallowing, rash)
- Dehydration
Common:
- Diarrhea
- Nausea, vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Weakness
- Red or sore moth
- Itchy, dry, or cracked skin
- Dry, red, or itchy eyes
- Nail problems
- Hair loss
- Fever
- Nosebleed, blood in the urine
- Increased liver enzymes
- Burning sensation while urinating, urgent need to urinate
