Hepagard injection is a medicine which contains the active ingredients L-ornithine and L-aspartate. Hepagard Injection is a chemical made up of the two amino acids ornithine and aspartic acid. This injection helps in reducing the amount of toxic substances like ammonia in the body in patients suffering from liver disease. This medicine is used in the treatment of disorders resulting from impaired activity in the liver (eg. Cirrhosis of the liver).
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to L-aspartate, L-ornithine or any similar amino acids.
Uses of Hepagard injection:
This medicine is used for:
- Hepatic Encephalopathy: Hepagard injection is used in the treatment of reduced brain function in patients suffering from advanced liver disease. (Cirrhosis)
- To treat and cure symptoms of Liver scarring (Cirrhosis)
How Hepagard injection work:
This injection stimulates ammonia detoxification (removal of toxic substances like ammonia). Furthermore, they also cause ammonia detoxification in the tissues outside the liver.
Interaction with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

Breastfeeding:
It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking Hepagard injection. Consult with your doctor for advice.
Liver:
Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have liver diseases. Your physician will monitor your liver functions regularly.
Kidney:
Inform your physician before starting this treatment if you have kidney diseases. Your physician will monitor your kidney functions regularly.
Allergies:
Inform your physician if you experience allergic reactions to this medicine or its ingredients.
Side Effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Although all medicines cause side effects; not everyone gets them.
