Introduction

Lipodox 10mg Injection is an anticancer medication that contains the active constituent doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome). It is commonly prescribed for Lipodox 10mg uses, including the treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells), and AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma. Cancer is a disease in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner.

People with HIV infection have the highest risk of Kaposi’s sarcoma (a cancer that forms in the lining of lymph and blood vessels). Lipodox 10mg Injection may be given alone or in combination with other anticancer medicines. Understanding how Lipodox 10mg is administered, this injection is typically given intravenously (into a vein) by a qualified healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting. This medication is not recommended for adolescents and children.

When considering treatment, patients often look for the Lipodox 10mg injection price or the Lipodox 10mg Sun Pharma price, which may vary by pharmacy and location. Some may also consider buying Lipodox 10mg online, but it should only be purchased with a valid prescription. Patients should avoid confusion with strengths such as Lipodox 10mg injection 1mg and always follow the prescribed dosage.

Like other anticancer drugs, Lipodox 10mg may cause side effects, including nausea, fatigue, hair loss, low blood cell counts, and an increased risk of infection. Always consult your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms. In some cases, doctors may recommend Lipodox 10mg substitutes depending on the patient's condition and tolerance.

Use effective birth control during treatment and for at least six months after the last dose. It is important to inform your doctor if you are allergic to peanuts or soya, or if you are receiving treatment for heart or liver disorders, have diabetes, Kaposi’s sarcoma, or oral problems before starting this medication.

Proper Lipodox 10mg storage temperature should be maintained as advised by healthcare professionals, usually under controlled conditions in hospitals or pharmacies to ensure drug stability and effectiveness.

Uses

  • Breast cancer

  • Ovarian cancer

  • Multiple myeloma

  • AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma

How Lipodox 10mg Injection works

Doxorubicin inhibits the activity of the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is involved in the DNA (genetic material) multiplication of cancer cells. This prevents the growth and multiplication of cancer cells. The unique formulation process of Lipodox 10mg Injection increases the time this medicine is circulating in the blood. It also helps deliver drugs from blood to the cancerous tissue rather than the healthy tissue.

Interaction of Lipodox 10mg Injection with other drugs

  1. Other Anticancer Drugs (e.g., cyclophosphamide, paclitaxel)
May increase toxicity, especially bone marrow suppression and risk of infections.

  2. Cardiotoxic Drugs (e.g., trastuzumab, calcium channel blockers)
Can increase the risk of heart-related side effects, such as reduced heart function.

  3. Liver-Affecting Medications (e.g., rifampicin)
May alter Lipodox metabolism, affecting its effectiveness and safety.

  4. Immunosuppressants (e.g., cyclosporine)
Can further weaken the immune system, increasing the risk of infection.

  5. Antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin)
May interfere with drug metabolism and increase side effects.

  6. Antifungal Medications (e.g., ketoconazole)
Can raise drug levels in the body, leading to higher toxicity.

  7. Herbal Supplements (e.g., St. John’s Wort)
May reduce the injection's effectiveness or alter its activity.

  8. Vaccines (especially live vaccines)
Should be avoided as immunity may be reduced and risk of infection increased.
