Menactra 0.5ml Injection consists of the Neisseria meningitidis groups A, C, Y, W – 135 combined with diphtheria toxoid protein. It is indicated to prevent meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis groups. This vaccine does not prevent meningitis caused by other subtypes of N.meningitidis.
Meningococcal disease affects the brain, spinal cord or blood. Individuals between 11 and 55 years shall receive this vaccine and ask your physician regarding booster dose if you live in a high-risk area. Tell your physician before receiving this vaccine if you have been diagnosed with a condition called Guillain Barre syndrome.
Uses of Menactra 0.5ml Injection:
- Prevention of meningococcal disease due to N.meningitidis organism.
How Menactra 0.5ml Injection works:
This vaccine stimulates the production of antibodies that act against the bacteria and protects specifically from Neisseria meningitidis groups A, C, Y, W – 135, thus preventing invasive meningococcal disease.
Interaction with other drugs:
Inform your physician regarding any medicines you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

Store in a refrigerator (2° to 8°C). Do not freeze.

Others:
- This vaccine is not intended for infants under 9 months of age.
- Before receiving this injection, inform your physician if you have experienced sensitive reactions to previous vaccines.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medications cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
