Pomavia 4mg Capsule is a chemotherapy medicine containing the active constituent Pomalidomide. It is used to treat a type of cancer called multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a cancer of a white blood cell called the plasma cell. These cells grow uncontrolled and accumulate in the bone marrow resulting in damage to the bones and kidneys.
Talk to your doctor if you have high cholesterol levels, heart disorders, breathing problems, blood clot disorders, hepatitis B infection, neuropathy (pain in hands or feet caused by nerve damage), allergic conditions, or if you smoke before taking this chemotherapy medicine. Pomavia 4mg Capsule is not recommended for adolescents and children under 18 years of age.
Use effective birth control for at least 4 weeks before starting the treatment, during the treatment, and until at least 4 weeks after stopping the treatment with Pomavia 4mg Capsule. You should not donate blood or sperm during the treatment and for 7 days after the treatment.

How Pomavia 4mg Capsule works:
Pomavia 4mg Capsule stimulates the immune system to attack the cancer cells, stops the formation of blood vessels supplying the cancer cells, and prevents the growth of cancer cells.
Interactions with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.
More information:
- Keep Pomavia 4mg Capsule out of sight and reach of children.
- Store at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C.

How to use Pomavia 4mg Capsule:
Always take Pomavia 4mg Capsule exactly as your doctor has told you. You can take this medicine with or without food. Swallow the capsules as a whole with water. Do not crush or chew the capsules. Wear disposable gloves when handling the capsule. Women who are pregnant or suspect they might be pregnant should not handle the capsule. If powder from the broken capsule makes contact with the skin, wash the skin immediately with water and soap. Take this medicine the same time each day.
Safety advice:
Pregnancy:
Pomavia 4mg Capsule is contraindicated in pregnant women. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking this medicine.
Breastfeeding:
You should not breastfeed while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking Pomavia 4mg Capsule.
Liver:
You need to tell your doctor if you have or ever had any liver disorders, especially hepatitis B infection, before taking Pomavia 4mg Capsule, as this medicine may reactivate the virus.
Kidney:
You need to tell your doctor if you have any kidney disorders before taking Pomavia 4mg Capsule.
Driving:
Pomavia 4mg Capsule can cause tiredness, dizziness, and confusion. Avoid driving if you are unwell.
Others:
- You should not donate blood or sperm during the treatment and for 7 days after the treatment.
- Inform your doctor if you have blood disorders, heart problems, hepatitis B infection, neuropathy (pain in hands or feet caused by nerve damage) or other diseases.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Serious:
- Low white blood cells (chills, fever, cough, mouth ulcers, or other signs of infection)
- Bleeding or bruising (nose bleeds, bleeding from bowels, or stomach)
- Severe or bloody diarrhea
- Blood clots (chest or leg pain, swelling)
- Severe liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes, tea-colored urine, abdominal pain)
- Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing)
Common:
- Tiredness, weakness
- Nausea, vomiting
- Dizziness, tremor
- Low potassium levels
- Back pain, bone pain
- Constipation
- Shortness of breath, upper respiratory tract infection
- High blood sugar levels
- Loss of appetite, lack of energy
- Trouble sleeping
- Muscle spasms, muscle weakness
- Numbness, tingling, or burning sensation in skin, Pain in hands or feet
- Anemia
