Topotec 2.5mg Injection consists of the active ingredient Topotecan. It is indicated to treat cancer in the ovaries and lungs that recurred after finishing chemotherapy treatment course. When surgery or radiotherapy does not work, this medicine is used to treat advanced cervical cancer along with another anticancer drug called cisplatin.
If you have faced severe allergic reactions to Topotecan or any of its ingredients previously, tell your physician before taking this medicine. Topotec 2.5mg Injection can cause severe myelosuppression, a condition where the RBC, WBC and platelet count drop below the normal range. Report to your physician instantly if you experience unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, severe stomach ache or infections.
Uses of Topotec 2.5mg Injection:
Topotec 2.5mg Injection is indicated to treat the following conditions:
- Ovarian cancer
- Small cell lung cancer
- Advanced cervical cancer
How Topotec 2.5mg Injection works:
Topotec 2.5mg Injection works by inhibiting the activity of the topoisomerase enzyme and damages the DNA. DNA damage stops the cancer cells from growing and spreading.
Interaction with other drugs:
Inform your physician regarding any medicines you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

Store in a refrigerator at 2-8°C. Do not freeze.

How to use Topotec 2.5mg Injection:
Your physician/nurse will inject this medicine into your arm as an infusion for about 30 minutes.
Safety Advice:
Pregnancy:
This medicine could harm an unborn baby. Hence, do not take this medicine without consulting your physician if you are pregnant.
Breastfeeding:
It is not safe to breastfeed during this treatment without consulting your physician.
Liver:
Discuss with your doctor before taking this medicine if you have liver problems.
Kidney:
Discuss with your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney problems.
Driving:
This injection can make you feel tired. In such cases, do not drive or use machinery.
Others:
- Male patients should inform the physician immediately if their partner becomes pregnant during their treatment course.
- Before taking this medicine, inform your physician if you are allergic to Topotecan or its ingredients.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medications cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

- Sore throat
- Urinary problems
