Background and Date of Approval

Alfuzosin Hcl + Dutasteride contains two active ingredients in one tablet. One of the active substances is Alfuzosin Hcl, which belongs to the group of medications called alpha-adrenoreceptor antagonists. The other active substance is Dutasteride belonging to the group of medications called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. The FDA approved this combination to treat Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Alfuzosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that works by selectively relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate gland and the bladder neck. This helps relieve urinary symptoms caused by BPH. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for prostate enlargement.

Uses of undefined

It refers to a non-cancerous prostate gland growth, which can result in urinary problems such as difficulty in passing urine, frequent or urgent need to urinate, and urinary dribbling.
