The U.S. FDA approved crisaborole in 14th Dec 2016, to treat mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (itchy inflammation of the skin) in adult and patients with two years of age.
Uses of CRISABOROLE
Crisaborole is used to treat mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (itchy inflammation of the skin) in adults and patients with two years of age.
How is CRISABOROLE administered?
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Application sites are upper arms and shoulders. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition.
Side Effects of CRISABOROLE
The common side effects that are experienced while you are on the treatment with crisaborole are pain at the application site (burning or stinging), hives, itching, swelling and redness.
Warnings
 Inform your doctor if you are allergic to crisaborole or any of the ingredients present in them. It is recommended to avoid swimming or bathing at least for 4 hours after the application of crisaborole. It is recommended only for external use (applied on skin).
Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have any skin problems before applying the ointment. Consult your doctor if you are planning to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant while breastfeeding. If you experience hives, swelling, or erythema at the application site, it is recommended to stop the ointment usage and consult your doctor immediately.
Word of Advice
Don't apply this ointment on damaged or affected skin, eyes, or mouth. If you accidentally apply it to your eyes. Wash your eyes with clean water and consult your doctor if you feel eye irritation even after washing your eyes. Don't forget to wash your hands before and after the application of the ointment. It is recommended to avoid swimming or bathing at least for 4 hours after the application of crisaborole.
