Ramucirumab is an anticancer medication containing the active ingredient Ramucirumab. It is a monoclonal antibody drug. Cancer is a condition in which cells multiply uncontrolled and abnormally. This medication treats advanced stomach, colon, rectum, lungs, and liver cancers. It may be given alone or in combination with other anticancer medications to treat various types of cancer. Ramucirumab was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 2014 for the treatment of advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinoma, as well as for the treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in combination with other anticancer drug.

Ramucirumab is used to treat several types of cancer, including advanced gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and colorectal cancer.

A healthcare professional administers Ramucirumab through intravenous injection in a hospital or clinic setting. It is not intended for self-administration. The recommended dosage and frequency depends on the type and stage of the cancer being treated, the individual patient's medical history, and overall health status. The drug is usually administered with chemotherapy or as a standalone treatment.

If you miss a scheduled dose, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss the best course of action. Sometimes, your healthcare provider may recommend that you receive the missed dose as soon as possible and then resume the regular dosing schedule. However, this will depend on several factors, such as how long it has been since your last dose, overall health status, and cancer stage. It is important not to double the dose to make up for a missed dose, as this can increase the risk of side effects.

Using ramucirumab can cause several side effects, some of which can be serious. Common side effects of this medication include high blood pressure, tiredness, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and mouth sores. More serious side effects can include stomach or intestinal bleeding, blood clots, heart attack, stroke, infusion-related reactions, and impaired wound healing. In rare cases, this medication can also cause severe gastrointestinal perforation, which can be life-threatening.

Ramucirumab carries several warnings that should be considered before using this medication. This medication can increase the risk of bleeding, including gastrointestinal bleeding and hemorrhage, and can also cause blood clots, which can be serious or life-threatening. This medication can also impair wound healing and should not be used in patients with open wounds or recent surgery. Patients with a history of hypertension or congestive heart failure should be closely monitored for signs of worsening their condition.

Ramucirumab may cause hypertension, and patients with a history of high blood pressure should be monitored closely while using this medication. You should not use this drug if you are allergic to any of this medication's components. Patients with a history of bleeding disorders or blood clots should be monitored closely while using this medication. Patients who develop signs of bleeding or blood clots, such as unexplained bruising, blood in the urine or stool, or sudden chest pain or shortness of breath, should contact their healthcare provider immediately. It is important to inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of bleeding disorders or if you are scheduled to undergo any surgical procedures while using this medication.
