Introduction to Cardivas 25mg Tablet

Cardivas 25mg tablet contains the active ingredient carvedilol. It belongs to the class of anti-hypertensive medications called beta blockers. It is indicated to treat hypertension, angina pectoris (chest pain), and heart failure. Hypertension refers to increased blood pressure in arteries (>140/90), and heart failure is a chronic medical condition when the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. Angina pectoris refers to chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle (myocardium) does not receive enough blood and oxygen for functioning.

The common side effects that are likely to associate with Cardivas 25mg tablet are headache, dizziness, fatigue, hypotension (low blood pressure), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight gain, dry eye (decreased lacrimation), upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, urinary tract infection, anemia (decreased red blood cells), depression and pain. Report to your doctor if any of these side effects disturb or persist in you.

Report to your physician immediately if you have severe allergic reactions to Cardivas 25mg tablet and its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have bradycardia, bronchial asthma, emphysema (a lung disease causing shortness of breath), heart block, severe liver disease, heart failure, or sick sinus syndrome (heart rhythm disorder that affects the natural pacemaker of the heart). Tell your physician before treatment commencement if you have diabetes, fluid retention, coronary artery disease, slow heartbeats, angina (chest pain), thyroid disorder, kidney disease, pheochromocytoma (tumor in the adrenal glands), Raynaud’s syndrome (a circulatory problem). Your doctor may perform routine checks on your blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and ECG for diabetes and bradycardia. It is not recommended for usage in children under the age of 18.

  • Treats hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain)
  • Adjunctive treatment of moderate to severe chronic heart failure.

Therapeutic Effects of Cardivas 25mg Tablet

Cardivas 25mg  tablet works by relaxing blood arteries by inhibiting the effects of some natural neurotransmitters, such as epinephrine which is also called adrenaline. As a result, the elevated blood pressure is reduced, the heartbeat is gradually reduced with less force, and the chance of having a stroke, a heart attack, or other heart problems is reduced. Thus, improves the efficiency of the heart in pumping blood throughout the body.
