Introduction to Combiklas Peri Injection
Combiklas Peri Injection contains an active component called Dextrose solution, Amino acids and Intralipid. It is a parenteral nutrition (PN) medication that provides nutritional support to patients who cannot receive oral nutrition. PN is necessary for patients who have a malfunctioning gastrointestinal tract, such as those with burns, trauma, sepsis, short gut syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, tumors, or pancreatitis. It can also be used to provide additional nutrition before, during, and after surgery. This medication provides nutritional support to patients who cannot receive oral nutrition due to gastrointestinal tract disorders like short gut syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, tumors, pancreatitis, peritonitis, fistula, and ulcerative colitis. It is also used in critical illnesses like burns, trauma, sepsis, head injuries, and cachexia.Â
Patients with hypersensitivity to Dextrose solution + Amino acids + Intralipid or any of the ingredients in the medication should avoid it. This medication should not be used in uncorrected metabolic or electrolyte imbalances, acute liver and kidney failure, or active infection. Patients with severe fluid overload should also avoid using this medication. It should be used cautiously in older adults, as they are more likely to experience side effects such as infection, blood clots, and liver problems. Combiklas Peri Injection is not approved for use in children under 18.
