DAPNAT M 10/500MG TABLET

Introduction:

Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet is a combination medication containing the active ingredients metformin and dapagliflozin. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes along with exercise and diet when treatment with either metformin or dapagliflozin has not adequately controlled blood sugar levels.

Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which high levels of sugar are present in the blood. It occurs when your body doesn’t make enough insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose (sugar) get into your cells to give them energy. High blood sugar levels can lead to many serious health problems.

Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet, is not recommended for adolescents and children under the age of 18. This medicine is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. Before taking this medication, inform your physician if you have severe kidney disorders, liver disorders, heart problems, infections, diarrhea, or alcohol addiction.

How Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet works:

Dapagliflozin blocks the protein SGLT2 in your kidneys. This causes glucose to be eliminated in the urine and thereby lowers the amount of blood sugar levels.

Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver, decreases absorption of glucose in the intestine, and improves the sensitivity of body tissues towards insulin, thereby helping in controlling blood sugar levels.

Interactions with other drugs:

Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

• Keep Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet out of sight and reach of children. 
• Store at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C.

How to use Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet:

Take Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet in a dose and duration prescribed by your physician. Take this tablet with food to reduce the side effects in the stomach. Swallow this tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Stay on your prescribed exercise program and diet while taking this medicine. 

Safety advice:

Pregnancy:

Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet is not recommended during the last six months of pregnancy. You need to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking this medicine. If you become pregnant during the treatment, stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding:

Do not breastfeed while being treated with Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

Liver:

You need to tell your doctor if you have any liver disorders before taking Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet as this medication is contraindicated in liver disease patients.

Kidney:

You need to tell your doctor if you have any kidney disorders before taking Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet as this medication is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disorders.

Driving: 

Do not drive or use any machines if you experience dizziness, change in vision, or difficulties in concentrating while taking Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet.

Alcohol:

Do not drink alcohol during the treatment with this medicine as it may lead to a serious side effect called lactic acidosis.

Others:

• If you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, heart problems, infections, diarrhea, or allergic conditions, talk to your physician before taking Dapnat M 10/500mg Tablet.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Serious:

• Dehydration (dizzy, faint, weak, especially when you stand up)
• Low blood sugar
• Urinary tract infections (burning sensation during urination, cloudy urine, back pain)

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Stomach pain
• Loss of appetite
• Yeast infections of the vagina and penis
• Increased urge to urinate, or urinating more than usual
• Altered blood cholesterol levels
• Rash
• Back pain
• Changes in the taste
