Defort 6mg Tablet consists of the active ingredient Deflazacort. It is a synthetic glucocorticoid (type of steroid) medication used to treat various conditions, such as inflammation, allergies, autoimmune disorders, and certain types of cancers. This medicine works by suppressing the immune system and reducing inflammation in the body. In particular, it is commonly used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting. It is believed to improve muscle strength and delay the progression of the disease in some patients with DMD.

Visit your physician immediately if you get chickenpox or measles. Before taking this medicine, tell your healthcare provider if you are sensitive to Defort 6mg Tablet or its ingredients. Do not receive live or attenuated vaccines during this treatment. If you have diabetes, tell your healthcare provider they may adjust your diabetes medications or monitor your blood sugar more closely during treatment. If you are planning to have surgery, you should talk to your healthcare provider about when to stop taking Defort 6mg Tablet and when it is safe to resume taking it after surgery.

Defort 6mg Tablet uses in the treatment of the following:

• Inflammation in asthma
• Arthritis
• Allergies
• Post-transplant surgery immune suppression
• Duchenne muscular dystrophy
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Multiple sclerosis
• Eczema
• Psoriasis
• Certain types of cancer, such as lymphoma and leukemia

Defort 6mg Tablet therapeutic effects are primarily due to its ability to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system. This leads to reduced symptoms such as pain, swelling, and stiffness and improved muscle strength and function in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Additionally, this medication can improve the quality of life for patients with chronic inflammatory conditions and reduce the risk of organ rejection in transplant patients.

Inform your healthcare provider about all your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Defort 6mg Tablet and reduce effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

• Store at a room temperature of 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C).
• Protected from light.
• Keep it in its original packaging until it is ready to be used.
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Should be disposed of properly.

Defort 6mg Tablet is usually taken orally in the form of tablets. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water or another liquid and not crushed, chewed, or broken. It is generally recommended to take it on an empty stomach, either one hour before or two hours after meals, to help maximize its absorption and effectiveness. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Like all medications, Defort 6mg Tablet causes some side effects, although not everyone taking it will experience them. 

Serious:

• Allergic reactions (rash, hives, or difficulty breathing)
• Severe stomach pain or bloating
• Bloody or black stools
• Vision changes (blurred vision or seeing halos around lights)
• Increased blood sugar levels or diabetes
• Osteoporosis or bone fractures
• Cataracts or glaucoma
• Increased risk of infections, such as tuberculosis or fungal infections

Common:

• Increased appetite
• Weight gain
• Swelling in the legs or ankles
• High blood pressure
• Mood changes, such as irritability or anxiety
• Difficulty sleeping
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abdominal pain or discomfort
• Acne
• Increased risk of infections

Defort 6mg Tablet is a medication that should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider. It is important to follow the dosage and administration instructions provided by your healthcare provider and promptly report any side effects or concerns. Patients with a history of allergy to this medication or any components should avoid taking it. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should be avoided while taking this medication. Women of reproductive potential should take contraceptives during and after several weeks of treatment. Do not receive live or attenuated vaccines during this treatment. Tell your physician before this medication if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, weak bones, or problems in your eyes, heart,  thyroid gland, or blood vessels. Contact your physician immediately if you experience mood disturbances, severe stomach pain, or allergic reactions after taking this tablet.
