Introduction to Doxorex Pl 2mg Injection
Doxorex PL 2mg Injection is an anticancer medication that contains the active constituent doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome). Cancer is a disease in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner.
This medication is used to treat breast cancer, ovarian cancer, multiple myeloma (cancer of white blood cell called plasma cell) and AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma.
People with HIV infection have the highest risk of Kaposi’s sarcoma (cancer that forms in the lining of the lymph and blood vessels). Doxorex PL 2mg Injection may be given alone or in combination with other anticancer medicines. This medication is not recommended for adolescents and children.
Use effective birth control during the treatment and for at least six months after the last dose. It is important to tell your doctor if you are allergic to peanuts or soya if you are receiving medicines for heart or liver disorders, have diabetes, Kaposi’s sarcoma or oral problems before taking Doxorex PL 2mg Injection.
Uses of Doxorex Pl 2mg Injection
Doxorex PL 2mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following:
- Breast cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Multiple myeloma
- AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma
Therapeutic Effects of Doxorex Pl 2mg Injection
Doxorex PL 2mg Injection inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II activity, which is involved in the DNA (genetic material) multiplication of cancer cells. This prevents the growth and multiplication of cancer cells.
The unique formulation process of Doxorex PL 2mg Injection increases the time this medicine is circulating in the blood. It also helps deliver drugs from blood to the cancerous tissue rather than the healthy tissue.
Interaction of Doxorex Pl 2mg Injection with other drugs
Inform your doctor about any medications you take or have taken before the treatment, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Doxorex PL 2mg Injection and can cause undesirable side effects.
