Ethyfos 500mg Injection is a cytoprotective agent containing the active constituent Amifostine. It is used to prevent or reduce the undesirable side effects of certain chemotherapy medications and radiation therapy. It is specially used to protect the kidneys and nervous system from harmful effects of the anticancer medicine cisplatin in patients with advanced ovarian cancer.
It is also used to treat radiation therapy-related xerostomia. Xerostomia is a dry mouth resulting from the absence of saliva, which is a sign of various medical complications. You need to inform your physician about all the medications you are taking recently and if you have or have ever had any heart disorders before starting treatment with Ethyfos 500mg Injection.
Drink plenty of liquids prior to therapy. Nausea, vomiting, and low blood pressure are the common side effects of Ethyfos 500mg Injection.
Uses of Ethyfos 500mg Injection:
- Reduction of harmful effects on kidneys and nervous system by chemotherapy medication
- Treats the radiation-therapy induced xerostomia

It works by binding to the harmful elements produced from cisplatin or radiation therapy in the body and removing or deactivating them.
