Femovan Tablet is primarily used for pregnancy prevention and the management of various gynaecological conditions. It is effective for:

• Pregnancy prevention as an oral contraceptive
• Regulation of menstrual cycles
• Management of hormonal acne, especially acne related to hormonal imbalances
• Treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
• Alleviation of symptoms of endometriosis
• Reduction of heavy or painful periods (dysmenorrhea)

Femovan Tablet prevents pregnancy and regulates menstrual cycles through multiple mechanisms. Ethinyl Estradiol stabilises the endometrial lining, controls the menstrual cycle, and inhibits gonadotropin release to prevent ovulation. Gestodene thickens cervical mucus and alters the uterine lining, making it less receptive to implantation. Together, these actions effectively prevent fertilisation and implantation, providing reliable contraception and promoting hormonal balance.

Interactions between Femovan Tablet and other substances may affect their effectiveness. Certain medications, including antibiotics, anticonvulsants, and other drugs, may reduce the plasma concentrations of the Femovan Tablet, potentially leading to breakthrough bleeding or reduced contraceptive efficacy. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, or herbal products you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

• Store Femovan Tablet at a temperature between 20° to 25°C.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children and pets.
• Store in the original container to protect from light.
• Cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects from oral contraceptives, especially in women over 35 or those who smoke 15 or more cigarettes per day. Women using the Femovan Tablet should avoid smoking.

Take Femovan Tablet orally as one tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, at the same time each day. After completing the 21-day course, take a 7-day break, during which withdrawal bleeding typically occurs. Start a new pack after the 7-day break.

The tablet can be taken with or without food, but consistency is key. If a dose is missed, take it within 12 hours of the regular dose. If more than 12 hours have passed, always follow the product instructions or consult your healthcare provider for guidance.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Common side effects of Femovan Tablet:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Headaches or migraines
• Tenderness or enlargement of the breasts
• Mood changes or symptoms of depression
• Weight gain or fluid retention
• Spotting or breakthrough bleeding, especially during the first few months of use
• Reduced libido or sexual dysfunction

Rare but serious side effects of Femovan Tablet:

• Blood clots (such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or heart attack)
• Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)
• Liver issues (including jaundice or abnormal liver function tests)
• Elevated blood pressure
• Vision problems (such as blurry vision or visual disturbances)

Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for proper use. Avoid smoking, and inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions, particularly cardiovascular or liver issues. Regular check-ups are essential, especially if you experience unusual symptoms. Do not skip doses, and seek immediate medical attention if you notice serious side effects such as severe headaches, vision changes, or leg pain.
