Fonaxel 2.5mg Injection consists of the active ingredient Fondaparinux Sodium. It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism after surgery. Venous thromboembolism is the leading cause of preventable death among patients undergoing surgical procedures. This condition occurs due to altered blood flow, injury and variation in the composition of blood.
This medicine is also prescribed to prevent and treat blood clot formation in acutely ill patients who are deprived of movement. It also treats heart attacks and chest pain due to narrow blood vessels (angina).
Uses of Fonaxel 2.5mg Injection:
- Prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism
- Treatment of heart attack and severe angina
- Treatment of blood clots on the surface of the skin of the legs
- Prevention of blood clot formation in acutely ill patients devoid of mobility
How Fonaxel 2.5mg Injection works:
Fondaparinux Injection binds to the antithrombin protein and enhances the inactivation of factor Xa. This interrupts the blood clotting cascade and inhibits thrombin formation and clot development. As a result, unwanted blood clots do not develop in the blood vessels.
