Introduction
Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection is a chemotherapy drug containing the active constituent pegaspargase. It is used to treat a type of blood cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). This is a white blood cell cancer in which the immature white cells grow out of control, preventing the production of functional blood cells.
Combined with other chemotherapy drugs, this medication can help increase the chances of remission and long-term survival for people with ALL. It is particularly effective in treating children with ALL, who have a higher rate of remission and overall survival when included in their treatment plan.
Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection is typically used with other chemotherapy agents to treat ALL, particularly in patients who have not responded to other treatments or who have relapsed after initial treatment. Glucose intolerance can occur with the administration of Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection for bleeding disorders.
Contact your doctor if you experience severe headaches, abdominal pain, excessive thirst, or serious allergic reactions while taking this medicine. Patients with previous kidney and pancreatic disease should talk to their healthcare provider before taking this medication. The Hamsyl Junior 1500IU price is the same across all locations in India.
Uses
Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection is indicated to treat the following conditions:
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia
Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
How Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection Works
Hamsyl Junior 1500IU Injection is an enzyme that breaks down the amino acid asparagine in the body. Cancer cells require asparagine to grow and divide, but cannot produce it themselves. By breaking down asparagine in the body, this medication can effectively "starve" cancer cells of this essential nutrient, slowing their growth and promoting cancer cell death. However, normal cells in the body can synthesise asparagine and are less affected by the enzyme than cancer cells. Therefore, this medicine selectively targets cancer cells while sparing healthy cells to some extent.
