Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection contains the active constituents Ifosfamide and Mesna . Ifosfamide is used to treat testicular cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, head and neck cancer, and other cancers of the lymphatic system and connective tissues. Cancer is a condition in which cells multiply in an abnormal and uncontrolled manner.
Mesna is used to reduce the chance of getting Ifosfamide induced hemorrhagic cystitis (inflammation and bleeding of the bladder). This medication may be used to treat some other conditions not mentioned here. Use effective birth control during the treatment, as Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection can cause harm to the unborn baby. Drinking plenty of fluids and frequent voiding will prevent the accumulation of this medicine in the bladder.
Before taking this medicine, talk to your doctor if you have any autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or nephritis (a kind of kidney problem). Administration of Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection is associated with severe myelosuppression (decreased bone marrow activity resulting in fewer blood cells), neurological problems, cardiac and lung problems.
Uses of Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection:
Ifosfamide is used in the treatment of:
- Testicular cancer
- Sarcoma
- Lymphoma
- Breast cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Head and neck cancer
Mesna is used for:
- Ifosfamide induced hemorrhagic cystitis
How Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection works:
Ifosfamide stops the growth and multiplication of cancer cells by damaging the hereditary material (DNA) in them. Mesna binds to the breakdown products of Ifosfamide and makes them less harmful to the bladder.

Liver:
Inform your doctor if you have any liver problems before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor for risks and benefits.
Kidney:
Inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor for risks and benefits.
Others:
- Inform your doctor if you have any autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) , nephritis (a kind of kidney problem), allergic conditions or other diseases before taking this medication.
- Drink plenty of fluids while taking Holoxan with Uromitexan 2gm Injection.
Side Effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Although all medicines cause side effects; not everyone gets them.
Severe:
- Allergic reactions
- Decrease in blood count
- Hallucinations, depressive psychosis
- Hemorrhagic cystitis
- Dysuria, Urinary tract infections
Common:
- Chest pain
- Fever and chills
- Shortness of breath
- Hair loss
- Nausea, vomiting
