Introduction to Kabiven Solution

Kabiven solutions contain active components called amino acids, electrolytes, dextrose, and lipids. It is a parenteral nutrition (PN) medication that provides nutritional support to patients who cannot receive oral nutrition. It is used to prevent essential fatty acid deficiency or to treat negative nitrogen balance in adult patients. It is used as part of a balanced intravenous diet, which can be given together with salts, trace elements, and vitamins. It helps to meet the complete nutritional needs of your body.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to eggs, soya, or peanuts before using the medicine. Inform your doctor if you have high cholesterol levels, lung, liver, kidney, and heart problems, diabetes, and blood disorders before starting the medicine. The safety and efficacy of the drug for children below two years of age has not been established.

The amino acids help in the protein synthesis and are utilized as a source of energy. The lipids help in the synthesis of fatty acids, which are important for energy production.

Interaction of Kabiven Solution with other drugs

Inform the doctor about your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Kabiven solutions, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
