Introduction to Merofic Plus 1gm Injection

Merofic Plus 1gm Injection is an antibiotic medication that contains two active ingredients called Meropenem and Sulbactam. It belongs to the medication class known as carbapenem antibiotics. It is used to treat various bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Also, it is used to treat pneumonia, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections, skin infections, meningitis, and sepsis. Harmful bacteria release toxins that harm tissues and cause illness. This medicine works by preventing bacteria from forming their protective cover, which is crucial for their survival. Sulbactam inhibits bacterial enzymes that can deactivate Meropenem. Meropenem may be used to manage neutropenic patients with fever suspected to be due to a bacterial infection.

Do not consume Merofic Plus 1gm Injection if you are allergic to Meropenem, Sulbactam, Penicillins, Cephalosporins, Carbapenems, or any of the ingredients in the medication. Before taking this injection, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or think you may be pregnant or are breastfeeding. Before starting the treatment, notify your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems or have experienced severe diarrhoea after taking other antibiotics.

The common side effects of Merofic Plus 1gm Injection are headache, stomach pain, being sick, increased numbers of platelets in the blood, and diarrhoea. Before starting the treatment, notify your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. Inform your doctor if you are on a salt-controlled diet. While you are on treatment, it is possible to have a positive Coombs test, indicating the presence of antibodies that may affect red blood cells; hence, your doctor may recommend blood tests to monitor your blood cell count and kidney function.
