Nitsum 100mg Injection is an anticancer medicine containing the active constituent carmustine. It is used as palliative therapy (preventing and relieving the suffering of patients) in certain types of cancers, like multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease, non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, and brain tumors (glioblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, and metastatic brain tumors). Cancer is a disorder in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner. This medicine is given alone or in combination with other medicines for the treatment of cancer.
This medicine is not recommended for patients with low blood count. Administration of this medicine can cause delayed bone marrow (a spongy substance present inside the bone, which produces blood cells) suppression and lung damage. Your doctor will monitor your blood counts regularly. Nitsum 100mg Injection may harm your unborn baby. Use effective birth control during the treatment and for at least six months after the last dose. Tell your doctor if you have seizures, liver disorders, or alcohol addiction, as this medicine contains alcohol.
Uses of Nitsum 100mg Injection:
- Multiple myeloma (cancer of a kind of white blood cell called plasma cell)
- Hodgkin’s disease (lymphoid tumor)
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (lymphoid tumor)
- Brain tumors (medulloblastoma, glioblastoma, astrocytoma, and metastatic brain tumors)

Nitsum 100mg Injection slows the growth of cancer cells by damaging their hereditary material (DNA and RNA).
Interactions with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse.
Safety advice:
Pregnancy:
Nitsum 100mg Injection should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm your unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking Nitsum 100mg Injection. It will be given to you if clearly needed.
Breastfeeding:
You should not breastfeed while taking Nitsum 100mg Injection. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.
Liver:
This medicine contains alcohol. It may be harmful to you if you have any liver disorders. Inform your physician if you have liver disorders before taking this medicine.
Kidney:
Nitsum 100mg Injection is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disorders. Talk to your doctor if you have any kidney disorders before taking this medicine.
Driving:
Nitsum 100mg Injection could affect your ability to drive. Avoid driving if you are unwell.
Others:
- Inform your doctor if you suffer from alcoholism, have allergic conditions or other diseases.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Serious:
- Severe allergic reactions (swelling of eyelids, face, lips, itching, rash, difficulty in breathing, feeling faint)
- Delayed myelosuppression (decrease in blood cells in bone marrow)
- Lung damage
Common:
- Headache, dizziness
- Blurred vision, redness in the eye
- Nausea, vomiting
- Darkening of an area of nails or skin
- Fall in blood pressure
- Inflammation of veins
- Constipation, diarrhea
- Hair loss
- Reactions at the injection site, flushing of the skin
- Anemia
- Lack of voluntary coordination of muscle movements
