Introduction
Orcix 200mg Tablet contains the active ingredient cefixime. It belongs to the group of antibiotic medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It is indicated to treat bacterial infections of the nose, ear, sinuses (sinusitis), throat, chest, lungs, and urinary tract. A bacterial infection refers to the growth of numerous harmful strains of bacteria in the body. It can affect any part of the body.
The common side effects that are likely to associate with Orcix 200mg Tablet are nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), headache, dizziness, and itching of the genital or vaginal area. Report to your doctor if any of these side effects disturb or persist in you. It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Report to your physician immediately if you have allergic reactions to Orcix 200mg Tablet , other cephalosporin antibiotics, including penicillin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Tell your doctor before treatment commencement with this medication if you have colitis (inflammation of the inner lining of the colon), kidney or liver disease, or seizures. It should not be given to children below ten years.
Uses of Orcix 200mg Tablet
- Treatment of bacterial infection.
How Orcix 200mg Tablet Works
Orcix 200mg Tablet kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It attaches to one of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which prevents the formation of peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall. This prevents biosynthesis and stops the building of the cell wall, which results in the death of the bacterial cell.
Interaction of Orcix 200mg Tablet with other drugs
Inform your doctor about any medications you take or have taken before the treatment, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Orcix 200mg Tablet and can cause undesirable side effects.
Storage Conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.

If you forgot to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip the missed dose if it is nearly time for the next dose.

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
How to Take Orcix 200mg Tablet
Take Orcix 200mg Tablet as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Take the prescribed dose of this medicine by using the measuring cup or dosing syringe or else the dropper provided by the pack. Shake the pack well before each use. Your doctor will decide the medicine’s dose, duration, and frequency based on the disease condition and other factors.

Breast Feeding
Orcix 200mg Tablet might be unsafe to use during breastfeeding as it is unknown if the medication tends to pass into the breast milk.
Alcohol
Avoid consuming alcohol while on treatment with Orcix 200mg Tablet as it may cause dizziness
Liver
Orcix 200mg Tablet should be used cautiously in severe liver disease patients and requires dose adjustment based on the condition.
Lungs
It is unknown whether Orcix 200mg Tablet can be used in patients with lung disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any lung diseases before starting the treatment.
Driving
Avoid driving or operating machinery while using Orcix 200mg Tablet as it impairs ability and causes confusion and drowsiness.
Pregnancy
Orcix 200mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy unless prescribed by your doctor. Consult your physician before taking this medication.
