Proteoz 2.5mg Injection works by blocking a protein complex called the 26S proteasome, which plays a key role in cell function and growth. By inhibiting this system, the medication disrupts cancer cell survival, making them more sensitive to chemotherapy. This slows down or stops the multiplication of cancer cells in the body.

Before starting Proteoz 2.5mg Injection, inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, supplements, and herbal remedies.

Certain medications may interact with this injection and affect how it works or increase the risk of side effects. These include:

• Antifungals like ketoconazole

• Antivirals like ritonavir

• Heart medicines such as amiodarone and verapamil

• Anti-seizure drugs like phenytoin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital

• Rifampin (an antibiotic)

• Herbal products like St. John’s Wort

• Diabetes medications, as blood sugar levels may fluctuate during treatment

Avoid live vaccines during treatment unless approved by your doctor.

• Keep unopened vials refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) and protected from light.

• Store out of reach of children.

• Handle with care. Pregnant women should avoid direct contact with the vial.

This medicine is given by a trained healthcare provider either intravenously (into a vein) or subcutaneously (under the skin). It should not be self-administered.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. 

Serious side effects of Proteoz 2.5mg Injection are:

• Muscle cramps
• Confusion, visual disturbances, seizures, and headache
• Breathlessness
• Swelling of feet
• Changes in heartbeat
• High blood pressure
• Fainting and tiredness
• Cough and chest tightness

Common side effects of Proteoz 2.5mg Injection are:

• Pneumonia
• Loss of appetite
• Sensitivity, tingling and burning sensation of the skin
• Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea
• Mouth ulcers
• Constipation
• Muscle and bone pain
• Hair loss
• Fever
• Reduction in blood cell count
• Reduced kidney function
• Shivering
• Infections
• Itching and redness
• Dehydration
• Stomach problems
• Difficulty sleeping, anxiety, mood swings, depressed mood

Before starting Proteoz 2.5mg Injection, inform your doctor if you:

• Are allergic to Bortezomib or boron-containing medicines

• Have nerve damage (neuropathy), heart or lung conditions

• Have a history of hepatitis B infection or liver problems

• Have low blood cell counts (anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)

• Are on medications like ketoconazole, ritonavir, rifampin, or herbal supplements
