Introduction:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet is an anticancer medication containing the active ingredient Abemaciclib. It is used to treat certain types of breast cancer (hormone receptor-positive, HER2 negative breast cancer) that are advanced or metastatic (breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body). Cancer is a condition in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner. This medication works by inhibiting the proteins called cyclin-dependent kinases that play a significant role in the rapid multiplication of cancer cells. This medicine is intended for oral use only and it is given in combination with other hormonal medications.Ramiven 50mg Tablet is not recommended for adolescents and children under 18 years of age. Before taking this medicine, it is vital to inform your doctor if you have any signs of infections (fever, chills, or sore throat), liver or kidney disorders.
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy in the near future as Ramiven 50mg Tablet may impact your fetus. If you are in getting this treatment during the childbearing age, discuss with your doctor regarding the use of effective birth control methods during the treatment and for at least three weeks after the last dose. This medicine may cause fertility problems in men. You must not eat grapefruits or drink grapefruit juice during the treatment with Ramiven 50mg Tablet. Inform your physician of all the medicines, including supplements and herbal medicines, you are taking before you start treatment with this medication to avoid serious side effects. Report to your doctor if you have had a history of intolerance to any forms of sugar.
Uses of Ramiven 50mg Tablet:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet is indicated for its use in the following conditions:
- Advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
- Hormone positive, Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative breast cancer in post-menopausal women.
- Adjuvant treatment in combination with hormone therapy for early breast cancer.
How Ramiven 50mg Tablet works:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet is considered as targeted treatment. It works by blocking the action of proteins called cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6, which are abnormally active in some cancer cells and make them grow uncontrollably. By blocking these proteins, this medication slows the growth and spread of cancer.
Therapeutic Effect of Ramiven 50mg Tablet:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet acts on the proteins that are present in the lining of breast cancer cells. The cyclin kinase proteins are responsible for the development of tumor. This medicine competitively blocks these proteins and causes reduction in tumor size.
Interactions with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

How to consume Ramiven 50mg Tablet?
- Take Ramiven 50mg Tablet in a dose and duration just exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
- This tablet can be consumed before or after the meal.
- You must not consume grapefruit in any form during the treatment with this medication.
Safety advice:
Pregnancy:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet should not be taken during pregnancy as it can harm the baby. If you are planning for pregnancy it would be best to discuss with your doctor about the use of contraceptive methods while you are on your treatment with this medicine.
Breastfeeding:
Do not breastfeed your baby during the treatment with Ramiven 50mg Tablet for a minimum of 3 weeks after the final dose.
Liver:
You need to tell your physician if you have any liver disorders before taking Ramiven 50mg Tablet, as this medication require dosage adjustment for severe liver impairment.
Kidney:
You need to tell your physician if you have any kidney disorders before taking Ramiven 50mg Tablet, as this medication should be used with caution in kidney disorder patients.
Alcohol:
Consult your doctor if it is safe to consume alcohol while you are on the treatment with Ramiven 50mg Tablet.
Driving:
Ramiven 50mg Tablet can cause unusual tiredness and dizziness. Hence, it is advised to avoid driving or handling machineries during the treatment.
Others:
- Talk to your physician if you have signs of infections (sore throat, chills, or fever).
- Inform you doctor if you are intolerant to any forms of sugars.
- If you are reproductive potential, Ramiven 50mg Tablet may cause fertility issues in men.
- For women in childbearing age, it is better to consult doctor and use appropriate birth control methods during the treatment and for at least 3 weeks after the completion.
- Avoid consuming antifungal medications or grapefruit to prevent serious side effects.
- It is recommended to monitor the levels of liver enzymes every two weeks for the first months during the treatment.
