Introduction to Rantac MPS Syrup
Rantac MPS Syrup contains two active ingredients, Megaldrate and Dimethicone, which belong to the family called anti-ulcers and antacids. It treats acidity, indigestion, heartburn, and stomach upset. Magaldrate neutralizes excess stomach acid, while Dimethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles, making it easier to release gas through burping or passing gas. Additionally, Dimethicone prevents the buildup and gas formation in the digestive system.
Rantac MPS Syrup should not be consumed if you are allergic to Megaldrate, Dimethicone, or any of the ingredients in the medication. Before taking Rantac MPS Syrup, it is important to inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, intestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, blockage in the stomach or intestines, Alzheimer's dementia, or a colostomy or ileostomy. It is advisable to avoid taking antacids that contain aluminum and magnesium with Dimethicone and Megaldrate because that may result in constipation and intestinal obstruction while magnesium-containing antacids could cause diarrhea.
Before taking the medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant or think you might be pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. Notify your physician if you are taking other medicine to avoid interaction and side effects. Avoid exceeding the recommended duration of use for this medication.
