Introduction to Ruparib 200mg Tablet
Ruparib 200mg Tablet contains the active ingredient rucaparib. It is an anti-cancer medicine that belongs to the class of medications called PARP (poly ADP-ribose polymerase) inhibitors. It is used to help maintain the response to other treatments for certain types of ovarian cancer, fallopian tube (a tube that transports eggs released by the ovaries to the uterus), and primary peritoneal (layer of tissue that lines the abdomen) cancer that has reoccurred in adults who have previously completely responded or partially responded to other chemotherapy treatments.
It is also used to treat certain types of cancer in people with specific gene (BRCA) changes who have received treatment with at least two other chemotherapy treatments. It is also indicated as maintenance therapy immediately after chemotherapy which has caused the tumor to shrink. Do not take Ruparib 200mg Tablet if you are allergic to Ruparib or any of the ingredients. This medication can cause low blood counts; hence your healthcare professional will advise you to take certain blood tests before and every month during the treatment.
Inform your doctor if you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain during the treatment because this medicine may affect your stomach or bowels. Ruparib 200mg Tablet should not be given to children under 18 years of age. Notify your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, suspecting, or planning for pregnancy during the treatment with this medicine. Women with reproductive potential should use effective contraception during the treatment.

Therapeutic Effects of Ruparib 200mg Tablet
Ruparib 200mg Tablet is an inhibitor of poly Adenosine diphosphate-ribose polymerase enzymes, including PARP-1, PARP-2, and PARP-3, which play a role in DNA repair. It blocks an enzyme that repairs damaged DNA in the cancer cells, resulting in their death.
Interaction of Ruparib 200mg Tablet with other drugs
Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications interact with Ruparib 200mg Tablet and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at the same time, with or without food. Do not break, chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.

Breast Feeding
Breastfeeding is not recommended in patients taking Ruparib 200mg Tablet because the medicine passes into the breast milk in small amounts and may harm your baby. Do not breastfeed during the treatment.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Ruparib 200mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
Ruparib 200mg Tablet is safe when administered in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustments are necessary.
Lungs
It is unknown whether Ruparib 200mg Tablet is safe to be administered in patients with lung diseases. Inform your physician if you have any lung diseases before initiating the therapy.
Driving
Ruparib 200mg Tablet may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Driving or operating heavy machinery is unsafe if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Pregnancy
Do not take Ruparib 200mg Tablet if you are pregnant because this may harm the unborn baby. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspecting, or planning to get pregnant during the treatment. Use effective contraception during the treatment and for 6 months after the last dose.

Use sunscreen and lip balm with a sun protection factor (SPF) after consulting your doctor. If you vomit after taking the medicine, do not take an extra dose. Take your next dose at the regular time. Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor. Your doctor may do lab tests to check the therapy's effectiveness or monitor the unwanted side effects.
