Thioplan 15mg Injection consists of the active ingredient Thiotepa. It is prescribed in combination with other anticancer medicines before stem cell transplantation for adult patients with cancer in lymph nodes of the central nervous system. It is used as a Preparation before stem cell transplant to reduce the risk of graft rejection. It is also indicated for treating breast, ovary and bladder cancer.
Uses of Thioplan 15mg Injection:
Thioplan 15mg Injection is indicated in the following conditions:
- Preparation for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in pediatric patients with class 3 beta-thalassemia
- Treatment of adenocarcinoma of breast and ovary.
- Treatment of superficial papillary cancer of the urinary bladder.
How Thioplan 15mg Injection Works:
Thioplan 15mg Injection binds with several cellular molecules and forms ions. This, in turn, produces cross-linking of DNA and breaks the DNA strands of tumour cells. The process of cross-linking enables to produce toxic effect on cancer cells and thus prevents its growth and multiplication.
Interaction with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

Thioplan 15mg Injection should be administered by a qualified physician experienced in high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant.
Safety Advice:
Pregnancy:
Inform your physician before taking Thioplan 15mg Injection if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant.
Breastfeeding:
Consult your physician before taking this medicine if you are a breastfeeding mother.
Liver:
Inform your physician before taking Thioplan 15mg Injection if you have liver problems. Ensure that your physician monitors your liver functions regularly.
Kidney:
Inform your physician before taking Thioplan 15mg Injection if you have kidney problems. Ensure that your physician monitors your kidney functions regularly.
Driving:
Avoid driving or doing things that require concentration if you experience any side effects.
Allergies:
Inform your physician right away if you have allergic reactions to Thioplan 15mg Injection or its ingredients
Others:
- Inform your physician if you have diseases related to blood or heart.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Serious:
- Severe drop in blood cell count
- Heart problem
- Kidney damage
- Nerve damage
- Lung toxicity
- Liver toxicity
Common:
- Cytomegalovirus infection
- Hemorrhage
