Udikast 300mg Tablet consists of the active ingredient Ursodeoxycholic acid. It is prescribed for liver and biliary conditions in case of cystic fibrosis and primary biliary cholangitis.
Primary biliary cholangitis is a liver disorder where improper drainage of bile damages liver tissues. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease of the liver and bile duct where the mucus in the body toughens and leads to clogging and inflammation.
Uses of Udikast 300mg Tablet:
- To alleviate too much cholesterol in the bile
- Maintenance treatment for patients who do not want to undergo surgery or are ineligible for surgery
- Treatment of small gall stones and cystic fibrosis
- Treatment for patients with primary biliary cholangitis.
- Treatment of cystic fibrosis.
- Decreases risk of developing esophageal varices
- Regulates the release of liver enzymes in case of viral hepatitis and bone marrow transplantation.
How Udikast 300mg Tablet Works:
Udikast 300mg Tablet is water soluble, therefore it competes with bile acids in the body and gets absorbed by the intestine and makes the environment water soluble. In the liver, it prevents the bile acid from attacking the liver cells and has a direct protective effect. It also stimulates the liver cells and epithelial cells of bile duct to release bile and prevents cell injury in case of cholestatic diseases.

Your physician shall prescribe Udikast 300mg Tablet only if it is essential and the benefits outweigh the risks.
Breastfeeding:
Udikast 300mg Tablet tends to get excreted in human milk. Consult your physician for advice before breastfeeding.
Liver:
Inform your physician before taking Udikast 300mg Tablet tablet if you have problem in liver, gallbladder or bile duct. Ensure that your liver functions are monitored regularly.
Others:
- Female patients of reproductive age should use an effective means of contraception while on this treatment.
- Inform your physician before taking this medicine if you are hypersensitive to Ursodeoxycholic acid or its ingredients.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Common:
- Pasty stool or diarrhea
