Unicalcin 100IU Injection consists of the active ingredient Calcitonin. Calcitonin is a hormone produced by parafollicular ‘C’ cells of the thyroid gland. It is used in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis, Paget's disease, hypercalcemia and prevents bone loss in patients suffering from fracture. It makes the bone stronger and prevents further damage. This medicine should be used only for a short duration. Common side effects include dizziness, headadche, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Uses of Unicalcin 100IU Injection:
Unicalcin 100IU Injection is indicated to treat the following conditions:
- Hypercalcemia
- Paget’s disease in patients who have not responded to alternative treatments
- Postmenopausal osteoporosis
- Prevention of acute bone loss in patients with restricted movement due to fracture.
How Unicalcin 100IU Injection Works:
Unicalcin 100IU Injection inhibits bone resorption mediated by osteoclast and reduces the kidney's reabsorption of calcium and phosphate. Thus it helps protect the bones during periods of ‘calcium stress’ like growth, pregnancy and lactation.
Interaction with other drugs:
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.
More Information:
Store in a refrigerator (2-8ËšC). Do not freeze. Use it after it reaches room temperature.

How to use Unicalcin 100IU Injection:
Unicalcin 100IU Injection should be administered at bedtime. This Injection is not intended for long-term use.
Safety Advice:
Pregnancy:
Unicalcin 100IU Injection is not recommended for use during pregnancy. You will be prescribed this injection only if your physician considers it essential.
Breastfeeding:
Breastfeeding is not recommended during Unicalcin 100IU Injection therapy. Consult your physician before breastfeeding.
Kidney:
Inform your physician before starting treatment with Unicalcin 100IU Injection if you have a kidney problem.
Driving:
Do not drive or use machines if you experience dizziness, tiredness or visual disturbance.
Others:
Unicalcin 100IU Injection is not recommended in case of hypocalcemia.
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
