Valparin Chrono 500mg Tablet is an anticonvulsant medication containing Sodium Valproate and Valproic Acid. It belongs to the sodium channel modulator class of drugs and is primarily used to treat epilepsy, including different types of seizures and epilepsy syndromes. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes recurrent and unpredictable seizures due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. These seizures may lead to loss of consciousness, muscle spasms, convulsions, altered sensations, or behavioral changes.
Apart from epilepsy, Valparin Chrono 500mg Tablet may also be prescribed for bipolar disorder and migraine prevention.
Do not use Valparin Chrono 500mg Tablet if you are allergic to Sodium Valproate, Valproic Acid, or any other ingredients in the medication. This tablet should be avoided in individuals with porphyria (a rare disorder affecting red blood cell breakdown), a history of severe liver disease, urea cycle disorder, or mitochondrial disorders such as Alpers-Huttenlocher syndrome.
