Carbamazepine, or Phenytoin (Life-threatening)
These strong enzyme inducers can drastically reduce voriconazole levels, making the treatment ineffective and causing rapid infection progression. Their combined use should be strictly avoided.Sirolimus or Rifabutin (Severe)
Voriconazole can sharply increase the blood levels of these medicines, raising the risk of serious toxicity. Doctors usually avoid using them together due to dangerous side effects.Warfarin and Other Anticoagulants (Severe)
Voriconazole enhances the effect of blood thinners and may trigger abnormal bleeding. Frequent clotting parameter checks are essential during combined use.Certain Antiarrhythmics like Quinidine or Amiodarone (Moderate)
These medicines may add to voriconazole’s ability to prolong the QT interval, increasing the risk of irregular heartbeat. ECG monitoring is recommended when both are necessary.Sulfonylureas such as Glipizide (Moderate)
Voriconazole may raise sulfonylurea levels and increase the chance of low blood sugar. Blood glucose monitoring helps prevent complications.Benzodiazepines including Midazolam (Mild)
Voriconazole can elevate the sedative effect of these drugs, leading to prolonged drowsiness. Dose adjustments may be needed to maintain safety.
