Introduction to Adripeg 20mg Injection
Adripeg 20mg Injection is an anticancer medication that belongs to the class of anthracycline topoisomerase inhibitors that contains the active compound doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome) in which the liposomes are coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG). This coating with PEG enhances the circulation of the drug in the bloodstream that helps to deliver the drug from blood stream to cancerous cells rather than healthy ones. This medication is used as a monotherapy for patients with metastatic breast cancer, with an increased cardiac risk associated with conventional doxorubicin, ovarian cancer, AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma and in combinational therapy of multiple myeloma (cancer of white blood cells called plasma cells).
It is not recommended to use this drug if you are allergic to the active compound pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and its components. It is also not recommended for use if you are allergic to products like pea and soy. It is not recommended for use in childrens and adolescents aged below 18 years. It can be used in gediatric patients with dosage adjustments made based on age and body weight. The use of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is not recommended if you are pregnant or nursing a child. Use effective birth control during the treatment and for at least six months after the last dose. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin may cause heart diseases. The drug should be administered carefully in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, and cardiac function should be monitored regularly during the therapy.
It is important to tell your doctor if you are receiving medicines for heart or liver disorders, have diabetes, Kaposi’s sarcoma or oral problems before taking Liposomal Doxorubicin Injection. Inform your physician about all the medications you take including herbal, over the counter medicines and supplements.

Therapeutic Effects of Adripeg 20mg Injection
Polyethylene glycol (PEG)-coated liposomes allow enhanced tumor targeting and selective drug release within cancer cells. Doxorubicin, once internalized by cancer cells, intercalates into DNA strands and inhibits transcription and DNA replication, as well as disrupting the topoisomerase II enzymes that are important in DNA repair processes. This causes cancer cells to undergo apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, and DNA damage. Furthermore, doxorubicin produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), which exacerbates oxidative stress and accelerates the death of tumor cells.
The unique formulation process of Liposomal Doxorubicin Injection increases the time this medicine is circulating in the blood. It also helps deliver drugs from blood to the cancerous tissue rather than the healthy tissue.
Interaction of Adripeg 20mg Injection with other drugs
Inform your doctor about any medications you take or have taken before the treatment, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and can cause undesirable side effects.

How to consume Adripeg 20mg Injection
Your doctor will give you an infusion injection (drip) of Adripeg 20mg Injection into a vein. This could take anywhere from 30 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the dosage and condition. Your dose and frequency of administration will be decided by your physician based on your disease condition and other factors. It will be given to you by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer.

Breast Feeding
It is not recommended to nurse a child while taking Adripeg 20mg Injection as the drug passes through breast milk. You need to tell your physician if you are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Adripeg 20mg Injection. Please consult your doctor for further queries.
Liver
It is unknown whether Adripeg 20mg Injection may interact with patients with liver disease. You need to tell your physician if you have any liver disorders before taking this medication.

Word of Advice
It is not recommended to use this drug if you are allergic to the active compound pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and its components. It is also not recommended for use if you are allergic to products like pea and soy. Blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and liver and kidney function should be monitored regularly while taking this medication. Don't stop this medication without the proper advice of the doctor. It is recommended to monitor your liver, heart and lung functions during the treatment course. Avoid making plans for pregnancy or during pregnancy, as this medication can cause harmful effects on the developing baby. It is recommended to use effective contraceptive measures during the treatment and up to 8 months after the treatment has been withdrawn. Avoid driving after taking this medication because it causes dizziness and lack of concentration.
The drug may cause decreased bone marrow activity. Monitoring complete blood counts regularly during therapy and watching for infections is advisable.To manage the treatment related to diarrhoea it is recommended to drink at least 3 litres of water and it is advised to wear masks and stay indoors as this medication lowers the blood cell count that may decrease the immunity.
