• Colistimet 1MIU uses to treat certain bacterial infections

Colistimet 1MIU Injection, a polypeptide antibiotic, penetrates and disrupts the bacterial cell membrane of susceptible strains of aerobic gram-negative bacteria. It works by killing bacteria.

1. Aminoglycosides (Severe)
   Medicines like amikacin or gentamicin can increase the risk of kidney and nerve toxicity when used with colistimethate. Use together only with strict renal and neurological monitoring.

2. Neuromuscular Blocking Agents (Severe)
   Drugs such as vecuronium or succinylcholine may have an enhanced muscle weakening effect when combined with Colistimet. This combination can lead to respiratory depression and needs close supervision.

3. Vancomycin (Severe)
   Using vancomycin with Colistimet raises the chance of kidney damage. Dose adjustments and renal monitoring may be required.

4. Polymyxins or Other Nephrotoxic Drugs (Severe)
   Concurrent use with other polymyxins or medicines that strain the kidneys can increase toxicity. Doctors generally avoid these combinations.

5. Diuretics (Moderate)
   Loop diuretics like furosemide may heighten the risk of kidney injury. Your doctor may monitor renal function more frequently.

6. Corticosteroids (Moderate)
   Steroids may increase electrolyte disturbances, which can worsen neuromuscular side effects of Colistimet. Medical supervision is recommended if both are used.

A doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting will give it to you. Depending on the reason, the drug may be given by fast or slow injection into a vein. Do not self-administer the injection. Colistimet 1MIU side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Serious 

• Breathing difficulty

• Kidney damage

• This medicine may affect kidney function, so your doctor will conduct regular kidney tests to ensure safety during treatment.

• You may experience dizziness, numbness, or tingling in the hands and feet—avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if these symptoms occur.

• Inform your doctor immediately if you develop severe, ongoing, or bloody diarrhea, as this may indicate a serious side effect.

• Injection site reactions like itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under the skin can happen—report any discomfort to your healthcare provider if it persists.
