Darzalex 100mg injection is a targeted therapy for cancer containing the active ingredient Daratumumab, which belongs to the group of medicine called monoclonal antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies are proteins that recognize and attach to the specific target, killing the cancer cells. It is used to treat a type of cancer called multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) in adults 18 years or older. 

Report to your doctor if you have ever had a hepatitis B infection; this medicine may cause the hepatitis B virus to become active again. This medicine can decrease platelets (helps in blood clotting) and white blood cell counts (helps fight infections). 

Do not take a darzalex injection if you are allergic to Daratumumab or other medicine ingredients. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents. Inform your doctor if you get any infusion-related reactions, such as swollen face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat. If you notice any infusion reactions, you need other medicine, or the infusion will be slowed down or stopped. 

Consult your doctor if you are on a salt-controlled diet, as this medicine contains sodium. Tell your physician if you have a history of breathing problems (asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or had shingles before taking Darzalex 100mg. This medicine can change the results of blood tests to match your blood type. 

You must tell your healthcare provider you are being treated with this medicine before receiving blood transfusions. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant. Use effective contraception during and after the treatment for three months.

• Treatment of Multiple myeloma

Darzalex 100mg binds specifically to a protein called CD38 found on the surface of multiple myeloma cells. This binding can trigger the immune system to attack and kill the cancer cells.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional, supplements, and herbal products. In particular, tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for blood pressure or other heart conditions. Certain medications may interact with Darzalex 100mg and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects. 

• Store Darzalex 100mg in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C)
• Do not freeze
• keep the injection away from the reach of children and pets.
• If you have missed any dosing appointments, inform your doctor and schedule immediately.

A trained doctor or nurse should only administer Darzalex 100mg. Do not self-administer the injection. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of your treatment based on the disease severity and other factors. It will be given as an intravenous infusion, and you will be monitored carefully for unwanted side effects. 

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. The darzalex injection side effects include:

Serious side effects of Darzalex 100mg Injection are:

• Infusion reactions (itching, wheezing, chills, fever, throat tightness, runny nose, headache, low pressure)
• Changes in blood tests
• Decrease in blood cell counts

Common side effects of Darzalex 100mg Injection are:

• Nausea, vomiting
• Back pain, muscle spasms
• Diarrhea
• Tiredness
• Shortness of breath
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Tingling, numbness, or pain
• Constipation
• Trouble sleeping
• Dizziness

If you experience any symptoms mentioned above, consult your doctor immediately. While undergoing treatment, use effective contraception and continue it for three months after stopping treatment. Darzalex 100mg is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years. Do not freeze the medicine. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor about every underlying medical condition. Talk to your physician if you are on a salt-controlled diet, as this medicine contains sodium.
