Introduction
Embopag 25mg Tablet is an anticoagulant drug belonging to the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist category, containing the active ingredient Eltrombopag. This tablet is used to treat low platelet counts caused by primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets, which help in clotting and protect blood vessel walls. When platelet levels are low, it can result in severe bleeding and bruising. This tablet is also used in adults to treat low blood counts caused by severe aplastic anemia, a condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells. This aligns with Embopag 25mg Tablet uses in clinical practice.
How does Embopag 25 Tablet work? Eltrombopag, the active ingredient in Embopag 25mg Tablet, stimulates the thrombopoietin receptor, which increases platelet production in the bone marrow. This is beneficial for patients with ITP, hepatitis C, and severe aplastic anemia, where platelet levels are critically low. The drug helps prevent bleeding and related complications by boosting platelet production.
The usual Embopag 25mg Tablet dosage will depend on your doctor's recommendation, considering factors like your blood platelet count and overall health. It's important to follow your doctor’s instructions to avoid complications such as too high a platelet count, which could increase the risk of blood clotting.
