Erypro Prefil 5000 IU Injection contains Recombinant human erythropoietin alfa (epoetin alfa), a medicine that belongs to a group of drugs known as erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs). It is used to treat anaemia (a low red blood cell count) caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD), chemotherapy, or HIV treatment with zidovudine. It helps reduce the need for blood transfusions, especially in patients at high risk of blood loss due to surgery.

This injection is usually given by a healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. Always follow your doctor’s advice regarding its dosage and duration.

Erypro Prefil 5000 IU Injection is used to treat:

• Anaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD)

• Anaemia caused by cancer chemotherapy

• Anaemia due to HIV treatment with zidovudine

This medicine works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body. It mimics the action of natural erythropoietin, a hormone normally produced by the kidneys.

Let your doctor know if you are taking:

• Blood pressure medications

• Iron supplements

• Anticancer drugs

• Herbal products or over-the-counter medicines

Drug interactions may reduce effectiveness or increase side effects.

• Store in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C.

• Do not freeze.

• Keep the syringe away from direct sunlight and heat.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

This injection is given under the skin (subcutaneous route) or into a vein (intravenous), usually in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. It should only be administered by a doctor or trained nurse. Do not shake the prefilled syringe. Avoid using it if it has been frozen or if the liquid looks cloudy or contains particles.

Like all medicines, Erypro Prefil may cause some side effects. Most are mild and go away on their own.

Common side effects:

• Headache

• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea

• Muscle cramps

• Fatigue or dizziness

• Fever, chills

• Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site

Serious side effects (rare but need medical attention):

• High blood pressure

• Blood clots

• Stroke or heart attack

• Seizures

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

• Tumour growth in some cancer patients

• Do not self-inject. Always let a trained healthcare provider give you the shot.

• Monitor your blood pressure and red blood cell count regularly.

• Stay hydrated and avoid long periods of inactivity to lower the risk of blood clots.

• Inform your doctor if you experience unusual fatigue, chest pain, or swelling in your legs.

• Do not stop treatment without your doctor’s advice.
