Introduction to Foslift Sachet

Foslift Sachet contains 3.2g of sodium acid phosphate as the active constituent. Foslift Sachet are used to treat high levels of calcium present in the body, which has developed due to the overactive parathyroid gland. The parathyroid gland is situated behind the thyroid gland and secretes a parathyroid hormone that plays a crucial role in maintaining calcium and phosphate levels.

Consult your physician regarding the dose and frequency since the dosage is calculated per body weight. Avoid taking antacids while consuming Foslift Sachet as the salts such as aluminium hydroxide and calcium or magnesium contents tend to reduce the efficacy of Foslift Sachet. Foslift Sachet is to be mixed with a glass of water and consumed with food.

It is recommended to avoid concomitant intake of vitamin D and calcium supplements to prevent the risk of hyperphosphatemia, a condition of high phosphate levels in the blood. Before taking Foslift Sachet, it is essential to monitor the electrolytes, mainly phosphates, calcium, and sodium. This medicine is to be used with caution for those with electrolyte imbalance and heart and kidney disease.

Uses of Foslift Sachet

  • Hyperparathyroidism – hyperactive parathyroid gland
  • Hypercalcemia – elevated calcium levels in the blood.
  • Cancer induced hypercalcemia
  • Renal stones (calcium-based)
  • Vitamin D resistant rickets
  • Hypophosphatemia- low phosphate levels in the blood.

Therapeutic Effects of Foslift Sachet

Foslift Sachet contains phosphate and sodium ions; in case of hypercalcemia, the phosphate ions bind to the calcium present in the gut and decrease the absorption of calcium in the blood. The sodium ions help prevent dehydration by correcting the sodium levels to maintain an electrolyte balance. Since the levels of phosphates and calcium are inversely related, Foslift Sachet work to reduce calcium levels by increasing the phosphate count in the blood.
