Kenadion 1mg injection operates through its vital role as a cofactor for the enzyme gamma-glutamyl carboxylase, which is responsible for adding carboxyl groups to specific amino acid residues in vitamin K-dependent proteins. This carboxylation process is essential for activating clotting factors such as prothrombin, VII, IX, and X, enabling them to participate in the coagulation cascade. These activated clotting factors, in turn, contribute to the formation of stable blood clots in response to injuries, preventing excessive bleeding and ensuring proper hemostasis.
