Mecobion NP tablet contains an active component as Nortriptyline, pregabalin, and methylcobalamin. Nortriptyline is an antidepressant medication that belongs to the class of drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). Pregabalin is an anticonvulsant and antiepileptic medication used to treat neuropathic pain, especially in conditions like diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and fibromyalgia. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B12, an essential nutrient for the body. It is used as a dietary supplement to treat vitamin B12 deficiency, which can lead to anemia and nervous system problems. 

Individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to Mecobion NP tablets or other components of these medications should not take them. It is primarily eliminated through the kidneys. Therefore, individuals with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease should not use this medication. There is limited data on the safety of Mecobion NP tablet during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult their healthcare provider before using this medication.

Mecobion NP tablet is used to treat the following:

• Neuropathic pain

Healthcare professionals prescribe these medications in specific cases where the patient's medical condition requires multimodal treatment. For example, some individuals with neuropathic pain may benefit from a combination of nortriptyline and pregabalin as they work through different mechanisms to address pain and may have a synergistic effect. Nortriptyline works by affecting the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, such as serotonin and norepinephrine, which play a role in regulating mood and pain perception. Pregabalin works by reducing the release of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, which helps to decrease pain signals and alleviate anxiety symptoms. Methylcobalamin can be added to support nerve health and potentially enhance the treatment outcomes.

Inform the doctor about your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with the Mecobion NP tablet, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects. 

• Store at room temperature, between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
• Keep away from moisture, heat, and light.
• It should not be frozen.
• Keep away from children and pets.

Mecobion NP tablet can be administered orally in tablet form. The specific usage instructions may vary depending on the condition being treated, age, and the individual's weight. Oral tablets are typically taken with water, as directed by the healthcare provider. 

Mecobion NP tablets cause some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. 

Serious side effects:

• Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, hives, difficulty breathing)
• Swelling of the hands, feet, or ankles
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Mood changes or depression
• Suicidal thoughts
• Irregular heartbeat
• Severe dizziness or fainting

Common side effects:

• Constipation
• Dry mouth
• Headache
• Feeling sleepy, tired or dizzy
• Diarrhoea
• Weight gain
• Blurred vision

If you have prescribed Mecobion NP tablet for neuropathic pain, follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully. Monitor for unusual symptoms, such as mood changes and irregular heartbeat. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking these medications, contact your doctor immediately. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should inform their obstetrician or healthcare provider before using this combination, as certain medications may not be safe during pregnancy or lactation.
