MERINTA 1GM INJECTION

Introduction:

Merinta 1gm Injection is an antibiotic medication containing the active constituent meropenem. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, abdomen, brain, and blood. It is used to treat infections that occur during or after giving birth. It may also be used in the management of neutropenic patients (patients with decreased white blood cells) with fever which is suspected to be caused by bacterial infection. 

Merinta 1gm Injection is not recommended for you if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine or certain antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, or carbapenems). Talk to your doctor if you have liver disorders, kidney disorders, or had severe diarrhea after taking other antibiotic medicines. You need to tell your physician if you are on a salt-controlled diet as this medicine contains sodium.

Uses of Merinta 1gm Injection:

• Infections affecting the lungs (pneumonia)
• Complicated urinary tract infections
• Complicated infections in the abdomen
• Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
• Acute infection of the brain (meningitis)
• Infections that can occur during or after giving birth
• Febrile neutropenia

How Merinta 1gm Injection works:

Merinta 1gm Injection stops the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis in bacteria.

Interactions with other drugs:

Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking or have taken before the treatment.

More information:

• Keep Merinta 1gm Injection out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not store above 30°C. Do not freeze.

Pregnancy:

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking Merinta 1gm Injection. It will be given to you if clearly needed.

Breastfeeding:

Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking Merinta 1gm Injection. It will be given to you if clearly needed.

Liver:

You need to tell your doctor if you have any liver disorders before taking Merinta 1gm Injection. Your doctor will monitor your liver condition before starting the treatment.

Kidney:

You need to tell your doctor if you have any kidney disorders before taking Merinta 1gm Injection. Your doctor will monitor your kidney condition before starting the treatment.

Others:

• You need to tell your physician if you are on a salt-controlled diet as this medicine contains sodium.
• This medicine is not recommended for you if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine or certain antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, or carbapenems).

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Serious:

• Severe allergic reactions (severe rash, itching, swelling of face, lips, or tongue, trouble breathing or wheezing)

Common:

• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Nausea, vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Constipation
• Skin rash, itching
• Anemia
