Introduction
Mesarem 1gm Granules is an anti-inflammatory drug that contains the active ingredient Mesalazine. It belongs to the family known as aminosalicylates. It is used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s ileocolitis. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis are inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Ulcerative colitis mainly inflames the colon and rectum, causing diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. Crohn's ileocolitis affects the small intestine and colon, involving deeper layers of the intestinal wall and leading to abdominal pain, weight loss, and complications.
Do not take Mesarem 1gm Granules if you are allergic to Mesalazine, aspirin, salicylate, or any of its ingredients. Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or blood abnormalities, or if you are taking other medicines, such as sulphasalazine. This medicine is not for use in children under 2 years old. Inform your doctor if you have, or have had, a history of severe skin rash, skin peeling, blistering, or mouth sores.
Before initiating Mesarem 1gm Granules treatment, your kidney and blood function will be assessed through tests. Your doctor will periodically monitor your liver, kidneys, and blood health using blood and urine samples throughout your treatment. Interaction of Mesarem 1gm Granules with other drugs
Taking Mesarem 2gm Granules (mesalazine) with any of the following medicines can change the effect of either of them and may increase the risk of side effects.
Azathioprine or 6-Mercaptopurine (Oral Route) Life-threatening
Use only under strict medical supervision.
Concomitant use may increase the risk of severe bone marrow suppression, leading to infections, anaemia, or bleeding.
Warfarin or other anticoagulants (Oral Route) Moderate
Use with caution.
Mesalazine may enhance the effect of anticoagulants and increase the risk of bleeding.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen or Diclofenac (Oral Route) Moderate
Avoid or use carefully.
Taking these medicines together may increase the risk of kidney damage.
Corticosteroids such as Prednisolone (Oral Route) Moderate
Use under medical supervision.
Concomitant use may increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
Sulfonylurea antidiabetic medicines such as Glibenclamide (Oral Route) Mild
Use with caution.
Mesalazine may enhance the blood sugar lowering effect and increase the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Probenecid or Sulfinpyrazone (Oral Route) Mild
Use carefully.
These medicines may affect the excretion of mesalazine and alter its levels in the body.

Store Mesarem 2 gm granules at 30°C.
Protect the medicine from light and excessive moisture.
Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets.

How to consume Mesarem 1gm Granules
