Introduction

Mycofit 250 Tablet contains Mycophenolate mofetil, an immunosuppressant belonging to the inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitor class. It is primarily used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone kidney, heart, or liver transplantation. This medicine is prescribed as part of a combination therapy with other immunosuppressive drugs to help the body accept the transplanted organ and prevent immune rejection.

The Mycofit 250 Tablet price may vary depending on the manufacturer and pharmacy. For patients who require alternatives, doctors may recommend Mycofit 250 Tablet substitutes such as Mycotero-S 360 mg Tablet or other formulations with similar active ingredients to ensure treatment continuity.

Mycofit tablet should not be used during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects or miscarriage. Women of reproductive age must use effective contraception while taking this medication. Avoid live vaccines during treatment and for several weeks afterward, as the immune response may be weakened.

Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, infections, or fatigue. Always take this medication under medical supervision, avoid excessive sun exposure, and inform your doctor immediately if you experience unusual bleeding, yellowing of the skin, or vision problems. Mycofit 250 Tablet price varies by retailer.

Uses

  • Prevent organ transplant rejections

How Mycofit 250 Tablet Works

Mycofit 250 Tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) and reducing the production of guanosine nucleotides. MMF specifically affects the proliferation of activated T and B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are key players in the immune response that can lead to the rejection of a transplanted organ.

Interaction of Mycofit 250 Tablet with other drugs

  1. Live Vaccines (Life threatening)
Mycophenolate suppresses immune function, allowing live vaccines to cause active infection. Live vaccines should be avoided during therapy.

  2. Azathioprine or Other Immunosuppressants (Severe)
Using multiple immune suppressing medicines together can greatly increase the risk of serious infections and blood disorders. Close monitoring is required.

  3. Antacids containing Aluminum or Magnesium (Severe)
These can significantly reduce mycophenolate absorption, lowering its effectiveness. Dose spacing is necessary.

  4. Proton Pump Inhibitors like Omeprazole (Moderate)
PPIs may decrease drug absorption, especially in children. Doctors may adjust dosing or timing.

  5. Cholestyramine (Moderate)
This medicine reduces mycophenolate blood levels by interrupting enterohepatic circulation. Combined use may reduce treatment efficacy.

  6. Acyclovir or Ganciclovir (Moderate)
These antivirals may increase blood levels of both drugs, raising the risk of kidney or blood related side effects. Monitoring is advised.

  7. Oral Contraceptives (Mild)
Mycophenolate may reduce contraceptive effectiveness. Additional birth control methods are recommended.

Storage Information

  • Store this at room temperature between 15°C to 30°C.

  • Keep the medicine away from the reach of children and pets.
