Introduction to Neovit D3 0.25mcg Tablet
Neovit D3 Tablet contains Alfacalcidol, a type of vitamin D analog. This medicine helps manage calcium levels in the body, especially when there is a deficiency or imbalance. Doctors commonly prescribe neovit d3 for conditions such as osteodystrophy (bone changes due to kidney failure), hypoparathyroidism (low calcium caused by underactive parathyroid glands), hyperparathyroidism (high calcium from overactive glands), rickets, osteomalacia (bone softening due to lack of calcium), and low calcium levels (hypocalcemia) in newborns.
People with a history of allergy to this medication or its ingredients should avoid Neovit tablet. Special monitoring may be required for individuals with kidney disorders, especially those with kidney stones. Your doctor will assess your kidney function before deciding the right dose.
Neovit D3 Tablet is not suitable for people with hypercalcemia (excess calcium in the blood) as it can worsen the condition. Sometimes, doctors prescribe phosphate binders or calcium supplements alongside this medication to maintain a balanced mineral level.
This tablet can affect both calcium and phosphate levels in your blood, so regular blood tests are needed to monitor these, especially in children and patients with kidney disease or those on high doses.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. The safety of this medicine during breastfeeding is not clearly known.
